One family’s journey became a resource for many.
Akhil Autism Foundation grew from Manisha and Mahesh Lad's experience of seeking information, support, and practical direction after their son, Akhil, was diagnosed with autism at 18 months old.
ORIGIN
Searching for answers, and sharing what they learned
Like many families receiving an autism diagnosis, the Lads found that the first steps could feel uncertain. Their search for education, resources, and support became a long-term commitment to helping other families feel less alone and better informed.
In 2008, they established Akhil Autism Foundation as a nonprofit dedicated to autism education, treatment guidance, research, and support.
